The Samsung Galaxy J3 has an 8MP camera on the back, matched with a single-LED flash. This is a conspicuously low-resolution sensor compared to the top budget phones, several of which use 13MP main cameras. There are several decent low-cost 13MP sensors these around days, most notably from all-round phone sensor master Sony. How to Repair Lens Problems on Your Digital Camera. Digital cameras are a regular part of life. They can be a great tool if you want to capture a moment forever. However, as expensive and useful as they are, they're also notoriously.
I purchased my galaxy note8 on the 16th September, and within the week following this, i noticed that the camera glass had cracked straight accross both of the lenses. This not only effects the photo quality, but is now filling up with dirt and the sensors keep asking me to clean the glass. I am extremely upset that the phone is as expensive as it is and i havent dropped, sat on, scratched or keyed my phone since i've had it and this has happened so easily. I think its to do with the size of the glass panel protecting the lenses and is under too much pressure. There is no impact mark to where you can tell the glass has cracked, its just a clean straight line. My quesiton is, what have people done about this being such a new phone? And will it effect the overall water resistence of the phone?
I have emailed samsung and all i recieved was an acknowledgment email thanking me for my feedback and it being passed onto the relevant department. Thanks for nothing!.NOTE 8 REAR CAMERA GLASS.BUYER BEWARE. MANUFACTURERS DEFECT.Exactly the same ISSUE as described above. Phone is less then 3 weeks old and has not spent a single day outside of an original Samsung Hard Case Shell along with a $60.00 InvisiShield Glass Screen previously rotector, The Phone has never been dropped, Never been Sat On, No IMPACT Marks, It hasn't been near anything sharp (Including Pockets,Handbag.etc) that may have caused physical harm to the device YET the rear camera Glass has split perfectly in half!!Furthermore, As stated By the above Customer My Brand new NOTE 8 ($980) has now been compromised on a multiutude of levels1. IP 68 Water Resistinacey2.
Large amounts of what can only be referred to as 'CRUD' accumulating inside this Hairline crack, Which will undoubtedly cause eventual build up underneath the Rear Camera Glass and activate the 'CLEAN CAMERA LENS' hence rendering my brand new state of the art Camera USELESS!!NOW FAST FORWARD:KEEP IN MIND THIS IS A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT.The customer Service that was Recieved From 'SAMSUNG' was at best, painstakingly laughable by the time it was all said and Done. Long story bearable, After receiving the runaround & listening to the blame game, all the while being continually encouraged to call my Sevice Provider to rectify the situation I finally after exhausting all my efforts requested to speak with a Supervisor, the agent assisting with my claim advised me her 'Supervisor' was on another call but would be with me shortly (we are 45 minutes in so far)She then proceeds to asks if she has my permission to can contact my service provider and inform them of the situation so they may be able to assist with my claim if I do decide to reach out to them. I AGREE & another 15-20 MINUTES Later she returns to the line ensuring me she has spoken with verizon, they have documented everything & should be able to assist with revieving a replacement. Now, I never was able to speak with a Supervisor and when I called My service provider they told me they received NO such Call, NO record of anything & No One Had accessed or noted my Account the entire day. Guess she took a smoke Break. Now here we are, Verizon wants $199 (Insurance) for a phone I have already paid nearly $1,000 for!!
Which, I would Gladly pay Had I CAUSED THIS DAMAGE, However being as that Is not the case, I have no confidence or reassurances that spending ANY money on a replacement device just to incur a similar fate is a smart investment. As much As I do LOVE MY NEW NOTE 8 and have been a Samsung lifer (Galaxy Note, Note 3,Note 5.etc) as I Use it for Business more than anything (Realtor) I will unfortunately have to reevaluate using Samsung Products for any future endeavours unless this comes to resolutionAgain I am 100% sure this is A DEFECT & Not PHYSICAL DAMAGE so please Check your phones rear camera carefully if you have recently purchased a new NOTE8.We need to make this a KNOWN ISSUE!!! I had my note 8 for 3 days when i went to take a photo and there appeared looking at the front of phone to be cellophane covering the camera lenses. I turn over the phone and I see hairline which i thought were real hairs so I proceeded to take a Kleenex and gently start brushing off the thought hair and glass shards got caught on Kleenex and the glass crumbled. I go to at&t where I purchased the obvious defective phone and they tell me sorry about your luck but we can't do anything you will need to contact samsung direct. I personally did nothing that should have resulted in the glass breaking total B'S.
I proceed to contact samsung and they said I have to send my phone in giving them my credit card number so that if the technician feels it is not a phone flaw they can charge me $294 to replace the camera glass. This is total bs. I returned 2 note 7s last year because of exploding issues then get no credit towards the note 8 because I don't have one of the 3 phones they are offering credit for but I break down and buy one anyway and then this B'S. I have totally lost all faith in samsung products. If I could I would return the note 8 and never touch a samsung again. But of course I'm screwed and have no choice but to get it fixed and stuck with it.
This is the last straw for me!! Pay good money for crap.SAMSUNG SHOULD MAN UP AND FIX THE ISSUE!
Same thing happened to me, never dropped phone put it down one night, woke up the next day and went to take a picture of my daughter and noticed image looked funny. When i flipped the phone over i noticed the glass on camera was shattered. Again, being a new phone I was being extremely careful with it and never dropped it. I reached out to both Samsung and local Samsung repair within Best Buy and was told by both that I could get it checked out to see if in fact it was a defect.
However both representativea made it clear that this would more than likely be seen as accidental damage and I would be responsible for repairs. In looking up the issue it seems that many people are having this same issue of the phone shattering not just with the camera but screen as well. In any case, it seems lime Samsung is taking no responsibility. I hope more people will speak out on this because Samsung will ignore the problem if it isn't brought up by others. OMG.WTH.My husband n I have been drive'n around to see if I could get my back camera lens fix'd. Spoke w/Jen from Sprint, Asurion, n even Samsung (Christine).Christine from, Samsung even have the nerve to suggest send them my phone n ask Sprint to give me a loaner. (I'm sorry b/since when does Sprint give loaners).I can get a new phone, as long as, I pay the $250 deductible.on TOP of all that, the warranty doesn't cover the lens.
Whats the purpose of having totally equipment plus if only certain parts of the phone are cover'd. The price to replace the lens is just as expensive as the deductible.
